Minecraft server monitoring
KeenCrow checks that your Minecraft Java server accepts connections on its port, and tells you when it stops, before your players start asking in chat.
Setting it up
- Create an account with your email address. One server is free.
- Choose "TCP port" and enter the address players use with its port, for example
play.yourserver.com:25565. 25565 is the default Java port. - The first check runs within a minute. On any paid plan, alerts can also be posted to your community's Discord channel.
The check confirms the port accepts a connection. It does not log in or read the player list. Minecraft Bedrock is not supported yet.
Why Minecraft servers go down
- Memory. A world that has grown, or too many plugins or mods, can run the server out of memory and stop it.
- Plugin and mod errors. An update to a plugin or the server software can crash it on start.
- The host. A reboot, a full disk or a network problem looks the same from outside: the port stops answering.
One failed connection never alerts. Three in a row confirm the outage, then you get one message, and one more when the server is back. Pause checks while you update so planned downtime does not count.
Plans
The free plan checks one server every 5 minutes with email alerts. Starter checks 3 servers every minute and posts to Discord for $2 a month. See everything game server monitoring does.
