SSL certificate monitoring that warns you before visitors see an error
An expired certificate turns your website into a browser warning page. KeenCrow reads your certificate every minute and emails you 7, 3 and 1 days before it expires.
What is checked on every certificate
- The expiry date. You get a warning 7 days, 3 days and 1 day before the certificate runs out.
- Whether it has already expired. An expired certificate is treated as an outage and confirmed like any other.
- Whether it matches your domain. A certificate issued for a different name makes browsers block the page.
- Whether the secure connection works at all. A failed handshake is reported with the reason.
SSL certificates are now technically TLS certificates. Both names mean the certificate behind the padlock in the browser.
Why automatic renewal is not enough
Most certificates renew by themselves, until one day they do not. A renewal job fails quietly, a DNS record changes, or a server is rebuilt without the job. Nothing looks wrong until the old certificate expires.
A warning a week ahead gives you time to fix it on a normal working day.
Included in every plan
Certificate checks are part of website monitoring on every plan, together with availability and DNS checks. Your dashboard shows the expiry date and the issuer of each certificate. Plans start at $2 a month for 3 websites.
