Garry's Mod server monitoring
KeenCrow queries your Garry's Mod server the way the server browser does and alerts you when it stops answering. You see the server name, the map and the player count from each check.
Setting it up
- Create an account with your email address. One server is free.
- Choose "Game server (Steam query)" and enter the public IP address or hostname and the port, usually
27015. - The first check runs within a minute. On any paid plan, alerts can also be posted to your Discord.
Why Garry's Mod servers go down
- Addons. A broken addon or a bad update to one can crash the server or stop it from finishing its start.
- Game updates. After an update the server needs updating too before players can join again.
- The host. A reboot, a full disk or a network problem looks the same from outside: no answer.
One missed answer never alerts. Three misses in a row confirm the outage, then you get one message, and one more when the server is back. Pause checks while you work on the server so planned downtime does not count.
Plans
The free plan checks one server every 5 minutes with email alerts. Starter checks 3 servers every minute and posts to Discord for $2 a month. See everything game server monitoring does.
